Live Wedding Paintings at Olowalu Plantation House
There is something about Olowalu that I always look forward to: the way the afternoon light softens over the open oceanfront lawn, the silhouette of palm trees against the water, and the unhurried feel of a venue that has been hosting love stories since 1922. As a live wedding painter and Lahaina resident, Olowalu is practically my backyard, and it shows in every painting I create here.
I've had the privilege of working multiple weddings at this historic property, and each one has given me something different to paint: a couple exchanging vows under a floral arch with Lanai in the distance, a first dance on the lawn as the sun drops behind the West Maui Mountains, and guests gathered at the lanai. The scenery does half the work, I just capture it.

The ocean is literally in every frame. The sprawling oceanfront lawn means my canvas almost always includes water, sky, and one of Maui's most iconic sunset horizons.

Whale season magic. If your wedding falls between December and April, there's a real chance I'll include a whale in the background. It's happened before, and those couples treasure their painting forever.

Historic architecture with texture. The 1922 plantation house itself, with its high ceilings, wide lanai, and weathered character, gives a live painting natural depth and warmth.

Room to set up well. With up to 500 guest capacity and expansive lawns, I always find a great vantage point that captures both the couple and the surroundings.
I also offer live guest portraits at Olowalu: caricatures, watercolor portraits, and marker sketches, which work beautifully during cocktail hour while guests enjoy the oceanfront setting and I paint the main canvas.
