FAQ
I capture each guest’s best self with authentic, accurate, freehand portraits created entirely by hand.
How long it takes for you to draw one person?
Short Answer: 7 minutes average, depending on multiple factors.
How Many Guest Portraits Can You Create Per Hour?
Short Answer: 8 to 10, but it is relative; it can be faster or slower.
How Many Guest Portraits Can You Create in 3 Hours?
Short Answer: 24 to 30, but it is relative; it can be faster or slower.
Why an assistant and a photobooth help flow and guest participation?
An assistant or photobooth keeps the line moving smoothly, organizes guests, captures quick reference photos, and frees me to focus fully on painting so more people get a portrait and everyone feels included.
Why additional time matters?
Because it ensures more guests are captured. Additional time gives me the space to paint more guests without rushing, keeping the portraits high-quality while making sure more of your friends and family get their turn.
Can you do Live Guest Portraits faster?
Aloha, yes, I can work faster when the event calls for it, and I adjust my pace depending on the style you choose.
If your priority is speed and volume, I shift into a more streamlined, expressive approach that still feels intentional. Styles like marker sketches, watercolor line portraits, or hit-and-run caricatures allow me to move quickly while keeping the artwork fun and flattering.
If your priority is detail and realism, the pace is naturally slower because I’m focusing on accuracy, likeness, and more high details. Larger paper will slow down the process and give more value to each portrait.
Either way, I’ll guide you toward the right setup so the guest flow feels smooth and your portraits stay beautiful.
Do the portraits include faces?
Yes, every live guest portrait includes the face. That’s the heart of the piece. I focus on capturing each person’s likeness, expression, and best features with accuracy and aloha.
What's the difference between a fashion sketch, a guest portrait, and a caricature?
A fashion sketch, a guest portrait, and a caricature each have their own vibe and purpose. Here’s the clearest way to explain it to clients:
Fashion Sketch
The silhouette is stylized and elongated, the focus is on the outfit, hairstyle, and sometimes the pose, without facial detail. My alternative style to this way of doing guest portraits is the marker sketches in gray tones, I do draw a face on them, and they are inspired by black tie attire and Italian black and white fashion photography.
Guest Portrait
A true portrait focused on likeness and personality.
This is the most accurate and flattering option, capturing each guest’s face, expression, and best self with artistic sensitivity. Inspired by impressionist portraits are great for weddings and keepsakes. Available in watercolor and acrylic on canvas.
Caricature
Playful and uplifting, never exaggerated in a way that feels harsh.
My caricatures are bubble-head sketch portraits with tiny, stylized bodies that highlight each guest’s personality in a fun, gentle way. The goal is joy, not satire, but a lighthearted keepsake that makes people smile and still feel like their best self.
What if some guests arrive late or there’s a long line?
I’ll finish the remaining portraits in my studio and deliver them after the event.
