How to Get a Marriage License in Maui, Hawaiʻi

All marriage licenses in Maui are issued through the State of Hawaiʻi Department of Health – Vital Records Section.

Step 1 - Apply Online

Complete the marriage license application through Hawaiʻi’s Electronic Marriage Registration System (EMRS)

The total fee is $65:

  • $60 license fee

  • $5 online portal administration fee

Payment is made during the online application process.

Step 2 - Meet with a Licensed Marriage Agent

After completing the online application:

  • Both applicants must appear together and in person before a licensed Hawaiʻi marriage license agent.

  • There is no waiting period once the license is issued.

  • The license is valid anywhere in the State of Hawaiʻi.

IMPORTANT:
The marriage license is valid for 30 days from the date it is issued, not from the date of online application.
