Glazing is a painting technique that involves applying thin, transparent layers of paint over thoroughly dried opaque layers. This approach allows for a beautiful interplay of light and color, creating depth, luminosity, and subtle effects that enhance the overall composition. By layering transparent pigments, I can achieve intricate and rich tones that give the artwork a radiant glow.
Why It Matters
Glazing gives wedding paintings an extraordinary luminosity, adding a stained-glass-like shine and depth that brings out the emotions of the scene. It allows me to adjust colors delicately, build complex tones, and add a richness to the final piece that makes it feel almost alive. The transparency of the glazes works in harmony with the underlying layers, enhancing details and creating a dynamic interplay of light and shadow.
